When Your Personal Space Becomes Your Office Place
--By WWR (We Work Remotely)
Five years ago, if you were asked if you were “remote” or “hybrid,” you probably would have had no clue what that meant. Now, working remotely or hybrid is the new norm, with roughly 18% of people working remotely in the U.S. today.
While it might seem to be a simple transition to make your home your office space, there is much more to it than sitting at the kitchen table with your laptop. To perform at your best, your space matters. Below, we’ve provided you with three tips for your remote office so that you can be at peak productivity within your own home.
There is much more to it than sitting at your kitchen table with your laptop. To perform your best, your space matters.
Designate Your Workstation
Working from home should feel comfortable but not full of distractions. Therefore, you need to carve out an area where you can solely focus on work. The size of your home does not matter, so there is no need for a whole room to be converted into an office. A kitchen table, corner desk, or even a low bookshelf with a seat in front of it can easily be converted into a workstation. Pro-tip: Stay away from areas with the temptation of a television nearby for optimal focus.
Keep it Clean
There is nothing worse than a messy workspace–the clutter can be overwhelming anddistracting, often inducing anxiety and stress. Wiping down surfaces, throwing away trash, organizing files, and vacuuming once a week can make a world of difference. Vacuuming not only visually cleans the home, but high-tech ones such as the ElectroZoom XL, can also make for a healthier, germ-reduced space.
Lighting is Key
The right lighting can make a workspace more comfortable and productive. A combination of natural lighting and lamps is the best way to ensure you avoid eye strain. If possible, try to have your workstation in an area near a window as opposed to an enclosed corner. For those working late into the evening, having a desk or floor lamp can make all the difference.

Whether you’re fully in-person, hybrid, or remote, the landscape of work is constantly changing, so get ahead of the curve and turn your personal space into your office happy-place. In the comments below, tell us more of your own tips for working from home.
